Ahhhh…. summer. Time for beach days, sundresses, and shaving your legs everyday (insert annoyed emoji)! As a result of my personal and frugal clothing challenge (check out my first post to see what I’m referring to), I have been experimenting with the clothes in my closet, trying to create new outfits with the shorts I own for these summer days. Seeing that we are going to be in the upper 90s for weather here in Nebraska for the next few days, I’m going to be living in shorts for a while.
I put together three outfits with shorts, all for different occasions, and trust me, these looks would be easy for anyone to recreate since none of my clothing is designer. Oh wait, I lied. I wear designs by Kohl, Wally Mart, and Target (pronounced tar-shjay– it’s French).
First look, Graphic Edge and Crisp White:
This first look is my favorite. It’s trendy, easy, and perfect for a casual day. Black and white graphic patterns have a classic edge that will never go out of style. Pair with white shorts (Target) to make your look crisp. I wear a black tank underneath the crop top (Dry Goods). Modest is hottest and classy is sassy. Aviators are my go-to shades. I have two pairs from TJ Max and I absolutely ADORE them. The leather, lace-up gladiators are from MADELINE girl. They look so AMAZING that you’d never realize how COMFY they are just by looking at them. I can walk in them ALL DAY. All. Day. Click here to buy the same sandals!!!
Look two, Floral with Solid Brights:
This is a bright and quirky outfit that packs a punch. I love shorts in bright or neon colors, perfect for summer. The strapless floral top and green shorts are both from Target. The shoes are your classic black and white Converse. What cracks me up about Converse is that they originated as THEE basketball shoe, and now they are a fashion staple for such a versatile crowd. I wear the Chuck Taylor All Star Classic. I can pull off a lot of looks, but I’ve always felt like I look weird in the high-tops. That adorable red purse was a gift from a friend (thanks, Em!).
Last look, Watercolor Print and Lace Detail:
Here’s how to make shorts a little more formal (you could wear this out to a nice dinner). Find shorts with a soft, pastel pattern (I love floral watercolors). Then pair them with a breezy top that has feminine details. Love the lace sleeves on this lilac blouse from Ann Taylor Loft. The wedges (Target) and fancy jewelry make the shorts look dressy.
Told you all my clothes are bargains! How do you wear your shorts in the summer?
